MUSICAL PRODUCTION 2023!
Through a video involving some of our Year 11 students posted on our Performing Arts Instagram today (@WheelersHillPerformingArts), we announced our annual school production for 2023, The SpongeBob Musical!
Whilst we’re sure people are questioning our sanity in choosing a musical based on children’s cartoon, we know that everyone will fall in love with it when they see it. With original songs by artists like Cyndi Lauper, David Bowie, Steven Tyler, Sara Bareilles, John Legend, and Panic! At The Disco, plus many more, The SpongeBob Musical is an extremely fun and heart-warming story with an incredible score.
It features all of your favourite characters from Bikini Bottom, like Squidward, Sandy Cheeks and Patrick Star, as they face the total annihilation of their undersea world. Chaos erupts. Lives hang in the balance. And just when all hope seems lost, a most unexpected hero rises up and takes centre stage. The power of optimism really can save the world!
We can’t wait to begin working on this colourful production and can’t wait to show you how good it is! The SpongeBob Musical was named Best Musical by the Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle and earned 12 Tony Award nominations – the most nominated musical of the 2017-2018 theatre season. We highly recommend you listen to the cast recording on Spotify or watch some clips on YouTube before judging it!
