Specialists - Visual Arts (Mrs Bleicher)

Our young artists have been enjoying the opportunity to explore painting, modelling and printing techniques during this term.  Congratulations to everyone for taking risks, experimenting with new techniques and materials and being super enthusiastic during art!  Check out the following photos to see some of the amazing artworks they have created.

Foundation students have learnt about texture, making collages and different printing techniques.  They created their own painted textured paper that they used to create a paper bag puppet animal.  They’ve been very creative using a range of printing tools, including cotton buds, cardboard strips and matchsticks.

Year 1/2 students have made painted textured papers and had lots of fun applying paint to the paper in different ways.  They used these papers to create Pete Cromer’ inspired collage birds.  The completed artworks are amazing! Linking in with their integrated studies topics this term, our year 1/2 artists explored modelling with plasticine and created an animal and it’s habitat. Creating miniature models certainly helped us to develop our fine motor skills!

Year 3/4 artists have explored modelling with Magiclay and displayed their finished sculptures with pride. They have been practising their drawing skills as well as using different painting techniques.  To support their learning in integrated studies this term, they have completed drawing of animals and insects.

Year 5/6 students have continued their printing work as well as linking in with their integrated studies topic of Natural Disasters.  They have researched paintings depicting bushfires and volcanoes.  They have created some amazing paintings showing the devastation of bushfires, learning to use printing techniques to create the subject matter of their artworks.  They have used Andy Warhol’s pop art for inspiration when creating mixed media volcano artworks.
