Acting Principal's Report

I acknowledge the First Peoples of our nation and the traditional custodians of the land on which our beautiful school stands, The Wathaurong people. I pay my respects to the Wathaurong people and acknowledge their contribution and care of the land and waters on which our school community works and lives. I pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and acknowledge and thank all First Nations people within the Miners Rest School Community.

Minister's Visit

It was with great excitement that we hosted a visit from the Minister for Education, Natalie Hutchins, at our school today. Our school captains, Cooper and Zienna toured the school with the Minister, as representatives of the Miners Rest K-6 students. Minister Hutchins was thrilled to see our building expansion and hear how much the students valued the new play areas, sporting facilities and learning spaces. She then joined our staff for morning tea in the staffroom. There was a great sense of pride across the school during the visit as to what Miners Rest K-6 has to offer students, staff, families and the broader community.

Student Interim Reports & Student-led Conferences

On Monday, you will have received your child's Student-Interim Report. This report provides a snapshot in time as to what your child has achieved, and is currently working on, in all areas of Literacy and Numeracy. The report also provides information about future learning goals for each student.

We will be seeking feedback from parents regarding student reports, and the new format, in the coming weeks - we look forward to receiving your feedback.

Following on from receiving the Student Interim Report, our school was opened yesterday to our school community for Student-led Conferences relating to student learning progress and next steps. Each student performs a very important role in this conference in sharing their personal achievements and skills developed, as well as knowledge that they would like to develop further in Term Four. Thank you so much to all of our families for making the effort to attend and share in this important opportunity.

Broad-brimmed Hats

As part of our government schools policy, broad-brimmed hats must be worn during the day when outdoors from September 1 until April 30. We ask your support in ensuring children are able to play outside with an appropriate hat for the rest of this term and all of Term 4.

Assembly

Our final school assembly is scheduled for this Friday and promises to be a highlight of the week. Our families and friends are warmly invited to join us at 2:30 pm on Friday. See you there!

Enjoy the rest of the week,

Kylie Nissen
