Wakakirri

On Tuesday night our school’s Wakakirri team headed down to Frankston to perform at the annual Wakakirri Story-Dance Festival.

The Festival involves schools presenting a 3 – 7 minute dance story, inspired by the ethos ‘great stories inspire change’.  Environmental, social, cultural, health, historical & reconciliation stories are all popular themes.  Our school’s story centred around the prevalent issue of screen time and the impact of social media on young people’s lives.

Our school presented last and, as the adage says, the best was saved to last (at least in the jubilant CHPS crowd’s opinion anyway)!

Congratulations to the 37 students on their inspiring performance. Thank you to production leader Ros Lawrence and teachers Allannah Watterson and Kelly Theunissen for the time, effort and energy they put into our students.  Moreover, it was great to see Ros back in full flight, doing what she loves for a school that she loves!

Book Week

Each year since 1945 the CBCA (Children's Book Council of Australia) brings children and books together across Australia, through CBCA Book Week.  During this time schools and public libraries spend the week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators.

Our school celebrated Book Week with a dress-up, parades and author visits!
