Puffing Billy
On Monday 5th September grade one and two students were very excited to go on an excursion on Puffing Billy. All our students had an awesome day. Everyone enjoyed the train ride from Belgrave to Lakeside seeing lots of different house, places and animals. Many students followed the map in each carriage to see where we were going and the path we were following. The new visitor centre was amazing and provided a lot of history and facts on Puffing Billy, with students particularly enjoying the short movie about Puffing Billy. A highlight was playing with with toys, games and dress ups in the museum.
Please enjoy the photos from our day.
Book Week Dress Up Day
On Wednesday the 7th September we celebrated Book Week with our Book Dress Up Day. The students looked amazing in their costumes.
We discussed and wrote about our favorite book characters.
Numeracy in Term Three
In term three we have been learning about lots of different mathematics concepts including location and directions, time, addition, subtraction, money, multiplication and graphing.
Students have enjoyed completing a range of activities including: exploring direction using the beebots; playing addition and subtraction bingo, multiplication games and race to 120; designing their own toy shop; using a catalogue to 'purchase' different picnic items; making an imaginary lunch order; we completed the term collecting different kinds of data to make graphs. The most popular activity was Smarties Maths where the students had to count their own box of Smarties and make a pictograph and a bar graph about their Smarties.
Thank you to all our amazing families for all your support this term.
We hope you all have an amazing holiday break and we look forward to seeing everyone in Term Four.

Take Home Readers and Spelling Books
As part of InitiaLit-2, students have free-choice of short and extended chapter books to take home and read. Year Two students are able to choose readers from school to take home and read nightly. Students in Year Two are also free to choose books from home to read each night if they wish. Students who choose their readers on a Monday are required to return them the following Monday. After reading, please record the name of the book and the length of time reading in the student diary for the day.
InitiaLit-2 suggests students practice spelling words at home each week. These spelling words will reinforce the words used in the classroom program. Instructions for the Spelling book are on the front cover of the Spelling book.
Tissues
Thank you to those families that have sent along a box of tissues to be used in your child's classroom. We would love for you to consider sending one in if you are yet to do so.
