Catholic Performing Arts Festival

On Tuesday, our Junior Vocal Ensemble performed in the Sacred Music section at St Benedict’s, Applecross. Mrs Clarke was very proud of the boys who sang beautifully.  The Junior School Concert Band followed up with their great performance on  Wednesday evening at Sacred Heart, Sorrento.

Next week will be the last week for the groups. Our Year 4, Year 5/6 Choirs and Junior Vocal Ensemble will be singing on Tuesday at the Vasto Club in Balcatta. Good luck to the boys.

Winter Sport

This week the Year 4 boys competed in a Rugby Carnival against Aquinas at Waterford Playing Fields. This is always a great opportunity for boys to practise newly acquired skills and to meet new friends.

Thank you to Mr Thompson for preparing the boys and organising the day and thank you to parents who supported the boys as coaches or spectators.  This week the Year 5 and 6 boys competed against Scotch College in their final winter fixtures.  It has been a great season for all our winter sport.  I know the Rugby boys will be looking forward to the season Rugby Presentation evening on Sunday.

Edmund Rice Day and India Fun Run

It is a long-standing tradition that the Junior School put on a sensational cake stall for Edmund Rice Day and today was no exception.  Parents your ongoing and generous support is very much appreciated. Today the Junior School boys also got to participate in another Trinity tradition The Fun Run for India.  This was a great opportunity for our boys to serve others and to participate in a major college event.  Well done to the boys who sought sponsors and participated in this fun event supporting those less fortunate.  Thanks to everyone who supported and participated in the Edmund Rice Day activities.

Athletics

The Junior School House Athletics Carnival will be taking place next Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, some of the boys are involved in jumps and the 800m, and on Thursday there are the throws and a range of team and individual events. Parents are most welcome to come and support their boys. Whilst there won’t be a sausage sizzle this year, the Canteen will be putting on a lunch special of a cheesy hotdog which can be ordered using the Flexi Schools App under Junior School Carnival Special.  Afternoon tea will be available for parents/grandparents in the Pavilion in the later stages of the afternoon, with tea/coffee facilities also available. Parents and siblings are also welcome to order a cheesy hotdog, via the app.

Book Fair

This week the Scholastic Book Fair was hosted in the Junior School library.  Boys have been able to order or purchase a range of books before and after school.  A huge thank you to Mrs Ella Spencer for facilitating this and to the many parents who have assisted.  As always this was a very successful event.

Book Week

Next week is Book Week in the Junior School. This year’s Book Week theme is Dreaming with Eyes Open. I am really looking forward to our book-week dress-up day, I know there are some very creative students, parents and staff members who are already planning their costumes for the book parade on Friday morning.

Holy Communion

Congratulations to all the boys who recently received their First Holy Communion at St Mary's Cathedral on Saturday, 13 August.
