Skills for Growing

Lions Quest: Skills for Growing

Last week eight staff members participated in professional development offered through the

BE YOU recognised social skills program, "Skills for Growing."

Lions Quest, Skills for Growing is a comprehensive social and emotional learning program for children in preschool to Year 8. The program brings together families, teachers and community members to help students develop life and citizenship skills within a safe, caring and consistent environment.

Skills are developed across four main areas:

 - self-discipline

-  responsibility

-  good judgement

- respect for others

These areas correspond with the Victorian Curriculum's Personal and Social Capabilities and other programs and philosophies that we are guided by,  The Berry Street Model, Respectful Relationships and our HEART values.

We look forward to trialling the program in Term 4.  Important elements of the program include Building Skills Beyond the Lesson and Applying Across the Curriculum activities. One crucial part of the program is the Family Connection Activities, which we look forward to sharing with you.
