A message from our Principal

Dear Parents

On Tuesday, I had the absolute pleasure to travel to Cessnock to watch our Rugby League Team compete in the NSW PSSA Knockout Grand Final. It was a day that I oozed with pride and admiration for the children and staff of Bathurst Public School. To see our children compete on this elite stage will be an extra special memory for me as a teacher and Principal that I will never forget. Whilst we lost the game 14-6 to Scone PS, our team are the second best team in NSW. What an amazing honour and privilege. Our children rubbed shoulders with NRL elite on Tuesday, which was an extra special bonus. Thank you to Mrs Goninan and Miss Tilburg for their amazing work and belief in the team. You are both such a testament to the difference a great teacher makes to the lives of our children. The impact you have made on the boys this year will be one they will always remember. To the parents, can I say a huge thankyou. You have travelled hundreds of kilometres this year with the team, always been supportive and have been a tremendous support. To the staff and children back at school, I heard your cheers and screams of encouragement and support on Tuesday. Thankyou all for making this such a special occasion for our team.

Thankyou to everyone for their support of Redtember Day last Friday. Our school raised $780.00 that will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities Central West.

We wish our children attending the Regional Athletics Trials in Dubbo this Friday 16th September the very best of luck. We have children competing in both track and field events as well as several teams in relays. Good luck, everyone.

During Term 3 and 4 primary students will participate in the Check-in assessment. The Check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online literacy and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor student learning. The assessment can supplement existing school practices to identify how students are performing in literacy and numeracy and to help teachers tailor their teaching more specifically to student needs. Students with a disability may receive the same level of support during the assessment they would normally receive in the classroom. Some specific information about Check In Assessment at Bathurst Public School is;

  • The assessment will be scheduled for our Year 6 students during Week 9 of Term 3
  • The assessment will be scheduled for our Years 3, 4 and 5 in Week 2 of Term 4.
  • All students complete a reading assessment and a numeracy assessment. Year 6 students will also complete a writing task.

If you have any questions about the Check-in assessment, please contact your child’s classroom teacher, Mr Datt, Mrs Francis or Mrs Lee.
