First Nations

We celebrated Indigenous Literacy Day in true Rangeview style with the ‘Great Book Swap’! We had books galore, all different types brought in from families ready to swap. We had a successful morning of choosing new books and the sheer excitement of realising it was theirs to keep. Rangeview students raised $432.55 for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. Which is a great achievement! This money goes towards purchasing books, First language books and resources for Indigenous Communities in remote areas. As a school we are so proud of this collective effort and look forward to another successful event in the future.

On Wednesday Rangeview was also presented with an award from bankfirst. Earlier in the year we applied for the 2022 Teaching Initiatives Program which was established to encourage excellence in education and to enhance student learning by supporting the development of innovative ideas.

The submission was to build a Reconciliation Garden within our school and to incorporate Aboriginal culture within it which will allow classes to experience and embed First Nations perspectives. A yarning space, bush tucker and Aboriginal Art will feature in this space.  $2000 was awarded to build this initiative and will require a team of people (let us know if you’re interested!) We are very excited to see this new space evolve and can’t wait to share it with the school community!
