Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2022
As the Term draws to a close, we are so grateful for the wonderful learning and engagement that we are seeing every day at Rangeview. This fortnight we have had our Level 3 students go to camp, the Father's Day Stall, National eSmart Week, Summer Interschool Sports, Indigenous Literacy Day, our first Creative Arts Installation, and RUOK? Day.
We have also received our schools Student Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS) results and our National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) results. These two data sets show very strong and improving outcomes for our students at Rangeview, and also some areas for improvement. Our leadership team, teachers and education support staff, will all be working together to unpack these results and to celebrate our successes and identify areas of focus for improvement.
From Monday 29th August to Wednesday 31st August, 91 Level 3 students went to Camp ADANAC in Yarra Junction. The campers were supported by both their teachers and ES staff. The Level 3 students took part in activities such as Water Slide, Flying Fox, Archery, Canoeing and Damper making. The facilities were wonderful and the food was plentiful and delicious. It was a very successful camp with the students returning happy and tired on Wednesday afternoon. There was one reported covid case following camp – which was a staff member.
There will be one Curriculum Day (Pupil Free) in Term 4 which is set for Monday 31st October. This is the day prior to Melbourne Cup Public Holiday. The OSH Club will be open for any families who require care for this day.
The National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment in which our Level 3 and Level 5 students participate. Students are assessed in Reading, Writing, Numeracy, Spelling, and Grammar / Punctuation. The assessment has recently moved to an online format with only Writing continuing as a paper based test. This year our results were again very strong compared to other schools in the state.
The Attitudes to School Survey is a student survey completed annually for students in Levels 4, 5 and 6. This year 276 students participated. Students complete the survey online and are responding to questions under 9 factors;
Our overall results were strong and positive with some differences between cohorts and genders.

A huge congratulations to our Book Fair organisers and in particular Lynette Ellis as the Book Fair raised funds to purchase 293 new books for the school! Thank you to all of our Rangeview Families who got on board and purchased books.
Rangeview received three grants in 2021 for the purpose of Grounds and Facilities upgrades. Any project with a total cost of over $200 000 must be project managed and overseen by the Department of Education.
Grant 1
Rangeview received a $400 000 grant from the Department of Education for the purpose of an amenities upgrade – senior block. To date this project is running to schedule and fixtures and fittings have been installed to most areas. The project is expected to complete on time and be ready for use in Term 4. We are looking forward to a grand opening.
Grant 2
Rangeview received a $200 000 grant from the Department of Education for the construction of an Inclusive Playground constructed on the banks of the oval. Initial meetings have been held with the Builder – Modus Projects – and the VSBA architect. Works are set to commence early Term 4 with completion before the end of the year.
Grant 3
Rangeview received a $25 000 grant from the Department of Education to construct a new shade sail over the Library deck. The plan for this space is the creation of an outdoor classroom which can be used across the school in varied weather. Franklin Gem Shade Sails is working with us on this project. Works are yet to commence.
In working through some of the planning for our current projects an interesting Whitehorse Council site was brought to my attention.

This site allows access to aerial photos of the school site from 1945 to 2022.
We hope that all of our Rangeview Families have a safe and happy holiday period and we look forward to seeing you all next Term!
