Scotsburn Assembly Postponed

This week the Scotsburn Campus is hosting Planning Teams from Buninyong as part of our whole school planning week. Unfortunately, this means that the shed along with some key staff will be unavailable for our planned Scotsburn Assembly on Friday. With this in mind, we will postpone our assembly, and hold an end of term Celebration Assembly on Thursday 22nd June, at 9:10am in the shed. This will be a great way to round off the term at Scotsburn, before our end of term whole school assembly at the Buninyong campus on Friday 23rd June.

No Specialist Program on Thursday this Week

Due to our whole school planning week, there will be no Physical Education or Performing Arts with Ms Middlin this Thursday. Wednesday Art and Japanese with Mrs Morgan will be able to run as normal.

Young Authors Program

Congratulations to Amity for being selected as part of the Young Authors Program. The program has been developed by the Gifted and Talented Network and has been created to inspire our talented writers and provide them with the opportunity to mix with other like-minded students from other schools.

Approximately 90 students from Grades 4 and 5 will participate in this wonderful opportunity from various schools in and around Ballarat.

The program launch occurred last Thursday after school at the Mt. Rowan College auditorium.  Next term, the students will have the opportunity to participate in three workshop days. We look forward to hearing from our Young Authors throughout the coming months and wish them all the very best for their participation in this exciting opportunity.

Well done, Amity!!!

Scotsburn Parent Social Dinner

From all reports, the parent dinner was a massive success last week. Scotsburn had 12-13 parents in attendance at Red Door Pizzeria, and talking to a few parents, they absolutely loved it! On the night, parents used the opportunity to discuss how they could continue to be more involved in the day to day running of the campus, which is great. As a staff, we are using this feedback and will have some plans in place to communicate to the community very soon.

With the night being such a success, hopefully we can hold these dinners more regularly in the future.

Mid Year Reports - This Friday

Just a friendly reminder that your child’s report will be made available on Compass this Friday afternoon. This time provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate with your child their achievements so far in 2023, as well as discuss future goals. All staff at Scotsburn have had such a pleasure writing each report, reflecting on the wonderful hard-working students that we have at the campus.

Students will also bring home a self-reflection in their bag this Friday. Please find the time to sit down and discuss this with your child. They are very proud of their reflections, and it is wonderful to hear from them about how they think their learning is progressing.

Parent Teacher Interviews/3 Way Conversations

Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd June

A reminder that our SC1 parent teacher interviews and SC2/SC3 3 way conversations are going to be held next Wednesday and Thursday at Scotsburn. If you haven’t already done so, you can make a booking via Compass. These interviews and conversations form a vital part of the connection to home, allowing time to discuss the progress of your child as well as providing students with a chance to showcase their learning.

We will provide more information via Compass later in the week regarding locations for specialist staff if you have made a booking with Liz or Rachel.

SC3 DASH Showcase Afternoon - Tuesday 20th June

This term our Year 5 & 6 students have been participating in an 8-week program called DASH. DASH facilitates meaningful and protective partnerships with Victoria Police, emergency services and other community services in Ballarat to build a sense of belonging, and connection to our local community. The program culminates in a student-led project that harnesses the capacity of young people to voice and generate change for real needs in their local community.

On Tuesday, 20th June from 2:30pm – 3:30pm, our Year 5 & 6 students will be showcasing their amazing projects aimed at making a difference and creating change for issues they have identified in our local community. We’d love for all SC3 parents to join us for a light afternoon tea and learn more about what is important to them.

We hope to see you there!

VSSS Rehearsal this Friday 16th June

Students involved in VSSS will be required to start and end the day at Buninyong Campus please. All arrangements are the same as our previous two rehearsals, so the routine should feel pretty comfy by now! We will be learning two new dances, so a bit of practice over the weekend following the rehearsal is recommended to help the dancers commit the new choreography to memory.

Please refer to my compass messages and email last week if you are yet to purchase tickets, the sooner the better to get your choice of seats!

Early next term I will send out more detailed information about the arrangements for Production Week (This includes the two dress rehearsals and the show itself). These days are very long and busy, but lots of fun! We will be travelling back and forth to Melbourne each day and sharing a bus with Mt Clear College to keep costs down. It is understandable that some families might wish to arrange their own accommodation with family or friends for some or all of these nights rather than travelling back to Buninyong each day, but please note that the bus fee you have paid cannot be altered/reduced in this circumstance. Parents are also welcome to collect students from the dressing room after the show if they are attending the evening performance, and we can discuss these arrangements closer to the performance date also! It’s such an exciting term ahead, well done to all dancers and their families for the time you have put in thus far, I can’t wait for it to all pay off for you in September! Keep up the great work! 🙂

Art Works to Celebrate

We have had some amazing pieces of art created this term from all year levels, and there are far too many to fit in this newsletter but here is a small taste of what we have been up to. I will include more work samples next week! Well done to all students, you guys are so inspiring to teach 🙂
