Faith Formation and Mission

Mr Phillip Lane | Assistant Principal - Faith Formation and Mission

On Friday 16 June Chevalier College celebrated Sacred Heart Day. We started with a liturgy and then went on to Home Room games and activities for the rest of the day.

At the Mass, the student leaders’ motto for 2023 was used as the theme: ‘With Unity We Create MSC Community’. This theme acknowledges that our spirit of community encompasses each and every one of us here as we strive to be on earth the heart of God.

It is with hearts united, recognising the gift of diversity, that we welcomed many special guests to the Sacred Heart Day Mass. The guests included representatives from our fellow MSC school, Daramalan College, who came forward to light their college candle and the candles of the other MSC colleges. We also lit the Laity of the Chevalier family candle which reminds us that as Sacred Heart people we are invited to take the MSC message beyond our College and to live it in our families and communities, so that wherever we go, we go with unity to create a heart-filled community.

'Spirituality of the Heart' invites us to open our hearts to a God who is love; to celebrate the great sense of diversity and uniqueness present in our MSC family. Sacred Heart Day is an opportunity to reflect on the love of Christ, which Jules Chevalier helped to bring to life through the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. Let our hearts be filled with this love – a love we celebrate each and every day through our relationships and connectedness. In the words of Jules Chevalier, ‘The love of the heart of Jesus is the centre where everything meets.’
