On Thursday 25 May, my Year 9 Legal Studies class was privileged enough to have Keryn McMaster come talk to us about doping and her career. Keryn was an Olympic-level swimmer who won multiple medals at the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. Her talk helped us with our assignment, which is on doping in sport. Keryn spoke about how the testing works and her thoughts on the current system used to test athletes. She also spoke about her own experiences with being tested and what happens if you are caught doping. Keryn was very patient in answering all our questions, and her speech was extremely useful for our assignment. We are very thankful for her time and effort!

Our Year 9 Legal Studies class had the honor and privilege to meet an Olympic athlete and former ASADA employee, Keryn McMaster. Ms McMaster was a former competitive swimmer, and she competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics where she came 10th place in the 400m medley. Keryn explained her experience of being drug tested and the process it requires, and she also explained how doping is regulated inside professional sports. Keryn brought in an old testing kit to show the class how it was used. The class was very grateful to have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about doping testing inside sport from an Olympian.
