Mrs Anna Nasr
We pray for any in our community suffering in seen and unseen ways.
May our loving God, with Mary and Champagnat, walk with all members of the Marist family. Amen
In his 2013 Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, Pope Francis reminded us of the central place of Mary in the mission of the Church:
“Whenever we look to Mary, we come to believe once again in the revolutionary nature of love and tenderness. In her we see that humility and tenderness are not virtues of the weak but of the strong who need not treat others poorly in order to feel important themselves… Mary is able to recognise the traces of God’s Spirit in events great and small.” (EG288)
In the poem “In Grace”, we can consider how the traces of God’s spirit are appearing in our lives, in events great and small.
In Grace
by Marlene Marburg, in An Ordinary Woman (2017)
God waits.
Mary prays.
Her veil falls.
At this moment there is no fear,
even though she does not know
the outcome of her bearing towards God.
Her heart whispers
yes to God-with-her,
yes,
compelling love.
Star of the new evangelisation, help us to bear radiant witness to communion, service, ardent and generous faith, justice and love of the poor, that the joy of the Gospel may reach to the ends of the earth, illuminating even the fringes of our world. Amen
Mary Our Good Mother, pray for us.
St Marcellin Champagnat, pray for us.
St Mary of the Cross, pray for us.
And let us always remember to pray for one another
The Mission Team have been working behind the scenes to bring back the Mates program.
During our Assembly on Tuesday 13 June, we were able to acknowledge students who had accumulated hours under the old Mates program. We were also delighted to begin to show the community what MATES at Marash Version 2 will look like from Term 3 onward.
Mates@Marash is reflective of the work we do for others in our College Community but is really focused on those beyond our gates who we can help.
Our hope is that all students will see what is on offer and make a commitment to at least one activity.
The Mission Team, is located behind the Chapel in the offices next to 801 and in the Mission Office near Fr Alatini .

We take time to thank these and all the students who have generously and ably assisted in the Mission of the College.
The Staff professional development breakfast held at the College today, Tuesday 13 June and ably catered for by our own students of Hospitality was given by guest speaker Mr Mark Elliot. Mark is the Regional Director, Queensland, Northern Territory and Northern New South Wales for Marist Schools Australia. He spoke to the staff on “The Ascent of the Spiritual life: Kilimanjaro, lessons from my guide”. The stories and learnings Mark shared with the staff in the context of Marist spirituality and educating were thought-provoking, inspiring and enlightening. We thank Mark for his time and talent.
Thank you to the students who have so ably supported our Stationery Aid MATES ministry on Friday mornings throughout the semester. We look forward to our new project for term three.

Game Changers is a comprehensive Catholic youth ministry program for students in Marist Schools from Years 7-12. It is designed to be an ongoing leadership and mentoring program for Marist students.
It seeks to form Christian leaders by making Jesus Christ known and loved among them – the Mission of the Marist institute and of this College.
It involves regular meetings; faith formation experiences and service opportunities and students are invited to become game changers through their participation in the group.
Game Changers is grounded in a series of tracks, each with their own stories, symbols and activities.
Through their participation in each track, the students come to a deeper appreciation of what and who shapes our Christian identity and Marist spirituality.
Each track is led by a Mentor (member of staff). Each track lasts two years.
Groups will meet regularly during Break times beginning Term Two.
Years 7 and 8 Monday - First break in Room 801
Years 9 and 10 Thursday - First break in the Ministry Office
Years 11 and 12 Thursday - First break in Room 801
To register for Game Changers, or for more information, please email Ms Rebecca Wong (wongb@marash.qld.edu.au) or come and visit anyone in the Mission Team area behind the Chapel.
The College St Vincent de Paul Group met each Tuesday during break time and are back serving our community BBQ on Thursday mornings in the yard. Students are very welcome to join ‘Vinnies’, all they need to do is come to the Mission Office for a meeting to register interest.
Every year, Ignite hosts one of Australia's most powerful Catholic youth conferences.
Ignite Conference is a gathering of Catholics for four days and draws together a network of high schoolers, young adults, ministry leaders, families, teachers, priests, and religious from around the country.
This year the Ignite Conference 2023 – Wonder will be held at St Laurence’s College, from the 21 – 24 September.
While the College does not take an official group of students to Ignite, we are delighted to promote this opportunity for young people. Ignite Conference 23 (squarespace.com)
Early bird registration closes on 30 June.
