Knockout Sport:
Our Knockout teams have commenced competition with some of the results included below:
Years 11/12 Football – Tuesday 6th June
Our football students played quality football with the support of coaches Ben Johnswood and Mandy Braddock. They played two games, winning the first game convincingly and losing the second game in a tight contest, narrowly missing out on a place in Round 3 of the competition. Congratulations to all girls on another great day of football.
Years 11/12 Netball – Wednesday 21st June
Our Year 11/12 students played three games of netball, putting up a good contest in Round 1 of the state competition, winning two of the three games. The girls were a credit to Loreto and played with skill and good sportsmanship. A big thank you to Mandy Braddock for her hard work on game day and leading up to this competition.
Years 9/10 Netball – Thursday 22nd June
Congratulations to our Year 9/10 knockout netball girls for winning both games in their first round of the netball competition. We are excited to see the girls play a second round of games early in Term 3. We are lucky to have an experienced coach like Mandy Braddock guiding the students in this competition.
We wish our Years 9/10 soccer team all the best for their Round 1 game next Monday 26th June and our Years 7/8 Netball team on Wednesday 28th June.
Aerobics:
Next Saturday 1st July our aerobics teams will compete in the FISAF State Championships, we wish the girls all the best for the competition and hope all their hard work is rewarded.
Student Achievements:
Congratulations to Ava Burns who placed second in the Hollins Trophy International figure skating competition and achieved first place in the Hollins Trophy Australian Division for the 13-15 years age group. We wish Ava all the best for the Victorian Crystal challenge on the 9th August and the Asian Open.
We also congratulate our Loreto girls who performed exceptional well at School aerobics SA State Championships with some of the girls winning gold medals and qualifying for the Nationals in August.
It is lovely to celebrate each other’s achievements so please let me know if your daughter has achieved highly in a sport, such as making a state team, as I would love to be able to share these successes with the College community.

Friday afternoon sport
Well done to our Year 4 soccer team who have worked hard for a couple of close wins the last two weeks, winning 3-2 against St Peters and 1-0. The Year 3 soccer team have fought hard against some older opponents and finish off their term with a home game against Seymour. The Year 5/6 soccer juggernaut continues to roll – undefeated so far after a high scoring 8-6 win over St Peters.
Our Year 5/6 hockey team played their best game of the term last week, eventually going down 1-2 to St Peters in a ripping match. Matilda scored a fantastic goal. They finish their season this afternoon at Adelaide Hockey Club.
Well done to players and coaches on a great term!
SAPSASA Representation
This week we had Grace, Alexandra and Alyssa (netball) and Matilda (hockey) represent the East Adelaide SAPSASA zone in the State Carnivals. The girls braved some fairly dicey weather and have put up some brilliant performances. Their carnivals finish today.
Next week we have a number of girls trialling for the East Adelaide SAPSASA soccer team. Our own Joseph Spagnoletti has been appointed coach of the team!
Term 3 Sport
Loreto’s sports teams will go on a break during the July school holidays. Trainings and games will resume in Week 1 of Term 3.
Enjoy the break!
