Year 5/6 Camp

By Scott Ludbrook (Year 5/6 Homeroom Teacher)
During the final week of Term 1, the Year 5/6 Camp was held at Mill Valley Ranch in Tynong.
Students had a fantastic time participating in a wide variety of activities, including horse riding, archery, ropes course, canoeing, bark hut tour, bush tucker, amazing race, indigenous craft, gaga, eco tour, initiatives, night games and cowboy chapel. Did I leave anything out?
Most likely, but you get the general idea.
It was non-stop action!
Here are some snapshots of the camp from the students:
I enjoyed horse riding because it was the first time I got on a horse. We did walking, manoeuvering and on the last day we did a bit of trotting.
Jonathan
My horse was named Rizzo. He was very hungry because he always seemed to have an appetite for eating wood.
Ebony
Camp was really fun! My favourite activity was gaga. It is a game where you’re in a square pit and there is a ball. You try not to get hit below the knees or you’re out. When everyone is in, it is hectic.
Darcy
Happy Snaps is when you act out a list of scenes or scenarios. I loved it!
Molly
The food was healthy and delicious at the same time … impossible.
Ben
Lots of people were at camp, all needing entertainment. So about ten acts of random genres performed by the kids at Red Faces provided all the entertainment necessary!
Arwen
My partner for canoes was Mitch. We did a race and we won. Then we all bunched up to make a mega canoe. It was so hard to control. At the end we all jumped off a high log.
John
On the Wednesday we got to groom horses. Annabelle, Sasha and I groomed a horse called Candy.
Melody
I really enjoyed being in the same cabin as my friends.
Lachlan
I loved camp heaps. It was fun!
