Stage 5 Agriculture

Stage 5 Agriculture have been studying Beef Cattle Management this term. Students have identified parts of a cow, researched different breeds of cattle and investigated diseases that can affect beef cattle.

The class have also been working hard to give the model cow at the Ag plot entrance a face lift. Students have drafted designs, primed and painted the cow white, ready to start drawing and painting on their designs. Keep an eye out for our colourful cow when we return from school holidays.

Students Showcase Innovative Solutions!

Our Stage 5 iSTEM course recently concluded an exciting assessment task that sparked creativity and problem-solving skills among our talented students. They were tasked with using CAD drawing software to design an object that would address a real-life problem they encountered. Following the design phase, our students brought their creations to life by 3D printing their innovative solutions.

The results were excellent! Our students showcased their ingenuity with a variety of practical and imaginative designs. Examples of their creations included phone holders for convenient hands-free use, desk organisers to keep their workspace tidy, toy ships designed for their younger siblings' enjoyment, and book holders that added functionality to their bookshelves.

This assessment task not only allowed our students to explore the world of CAD drawing and 3D printing but also fostered critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It provided a hands-on opportunity for our budding inventors to create tangible solutions to everyday challenges they face.

Congratulations to all our Stage 5 iSTEM students for their outstanding work and innovative thinking.

Ag Plot News

We are thrilled to share some exciting news regarding our Ag Plot facilities! Thanks to the efforts of our team and the generous support of Brad Corcoran, we have recently acquired new sheep yards that will greatly enhance our operations. These state-of-the-art yards, designed and constructed with Brad's assistance, offer a range of impressive features. They can draft, weigh, and drench sheep all while being conveniently located undercover within our new shed.

To further improve accessibility, we are planning to lay a gravel pad at the entrance of the yards during the upcoming holidays. This upgrade will ensure that students can use the yards more efficiently when the next term begins. We are dedicated to providing the best learning opportunities for our students, and these enhanced facilities will undoubtedly contribute to their practical experience in animal husbandry and the development of essential agricultural skills. With the addition of these new sheep yards, we are taking a significant step forward in improving the efficiency and safety of our operations. They will streamline our sheep-handling processes, creating a more efficient and productive environment. Our students will have the opportunity to explore the world of agriculture with confidence and enthusiasm, gaining hands-on experience that will prepare them for future success.

Stay tuned for more updates on our Ag Plot's advancements as we look to use the new yards to mark our lambs that are expected to land next term.

Year 10 Science

Ty and Taylen are currently conducting research for their student research project (SRP) in science.  They are testing if colour influences the taste of a drink.  They have asked many students and staff to taste test their drinks and tell them what they think the drink tastes like.
