VCE VM Students support the fight against MND

Epping Secondary College, Urban Harvest, VCE VM students support the fight against MND.

On Tuesday 6th June, Epping Secondary College’s Urban Harvest students, along with their teachers Rosa Neri and Antoinette Rehak, helped to organise and run Greenbrook Community House’s ‘Big Freeze’ event.

The local community came together to raise money for MND research. Our students helped to run the bbq, set up the afternoon and were a fantastic part of the ‘dunking’ efforts on the day.

Local community members, including ‘Keith’ from Gogglebox, braved the icy, cold water to raise money for MND. Students also took great delight in dunking Ms Rehak who volunteered to take the icy plunge in honour of an extended family member, Ruth Moore who bravely battled MND.

It was great to see our students join local community members in a positive and supportive way, everyone enjoyed the smiles and energy our students brought to this event.

Standouts on the day were Yaser Ali, Hussein Khosravi, Ahmad Ahmad and Hadi Alao , however we do wish to acknowledge and thank all students who made the effort to attend and be part of a great day.

Urban Harvest Semester 1 Wrap-up!

Throughout Semester One, Urban Harvest had a jam packed program full of community engagement and connection! Students actively engaged in community and school-based volunteering projects, across multiple initiatives and events.

These experiences have allowed our students to demonstrate important key employability skills, such as team work, communication, problem-solving, time management and enterprising skills.

Additionally, when interacting with community members and the many volunteers, students carried out their civic duties and responsibilities with Care, Respect and Resilience.
