Year 7 Headspace Transition Workshop

Year 7 Headspace Transition Workshop 2

All Year 7 students participated in Headspace Transition Workshop 2 on Thursday 15th June.

Toby, Kyla and Alicia from Headspace explained how the students will be going through many changes during their transition from primary school to Year 7. This can be stressful, and they explained what stress and anxiety are, that it is normal to feel some stress, what triggers for stress are, how to manage stress and what students can do if they are not coping. This included reaching out for help to the Wellbeing Team at Epping Secondary College, Headspace, parents, and Kids helpline.

Mr Kaskamanidis and Luca volunteered to demonstrate the Stress bucket. The chunks of wood were the triggers for stress such as homework, keeping up with the demands of school and home, social media, pressure to fit in and tests. It is important to not let the bucket fill up and overflow, the holes represented healthy coping strategies such as exercising, being organized, getting the right amount of sleep and connecting with peers and family. Thank you to Mr Kaskamanidis and Luca for volunteering and engaging in the workshop.
