Northside Parents Battle of the Bands success!

Oh what a night.......our Nits did us proud!

The inaugural Northside Parents Battle of the Bands held at the Northcote Social Club on Thursday, June 8th was a huge success. After running for five years on the southside, bringing the event North was a significant milestone.

Congratulations to The Nits, our exceptional Northcote Primary parents band, for their high-energy performance as the opening act (no easy feat). The band, consisting  of Jude on vocals, Jason on vocals and lead guitar, Bianca on bass, Laura on keys and vocals, Matt on clariNit, Patsy on saxophone, and Steve on drums, really rocked the stage and took home the judges’ 4th place trophy. They were certainly a true crowd favourite and quickly heated up the room with their incredible renditions of: Siren (The Divinyls), Young Folks (Peter Bjorn & John), Just a Girl (No Doubt), Time to Pretend (MGMT) and Bad Guy (Billie Eilish)!

Thank you to Shaun and Anita for coming along to support our school- it was great to see you there alongside other teachers and so many parents from our school having a sing-a-long and boogie.

Well done to Fairfield Primary’s Double Denim who took home the first-place trophy, Westgarth Primary’s Westgarth Idol and Brunswick East Primary’s Assembly- all of the bands provided such a fun night of entertainment for all!!

The real winner however is the school who sells the most tickets, with ticket proceeds coming back to support the school’s music program. We are super delighted to announce that our Northcote Primary school community brought it home by selling an impressive x104 tickets to the event!!

These proceeds will come back into our school’s music program, which is fantastic news for our kids. There will be an official cheque presentation at an upcoming assembly to celebrate this achievement and to announce how much money was raised, so stay tuned for that info in the coming weeks.

Thanks again to all the participants and attendees for making it such a memorable event. It really was a spectacular night filled with great music and community spirit from all the schools involved.

If you missed out on this year’s event, don't worry! The Parents Battle of the Bands will be back in 2024, so get ready to mark your calendars (date tbc). In the meantime, you can stay updated with all the Battle news by following @parents_battle_of_the_bands on instagram.
