Heathmont Talks

We're getting microwaves!

Last term Heathmont Talks started. Heathmont Talks is an opportunity for students to raise their voice about concerns in the school community. These forums run every second Friday during lunch, facilitated by our School Captains Molly and Lachlan. They give students the chance to lead conversations about issues they believe are impacting their lives at school. Heathmont Talks talked through many issues but eventually prioritised an idea to have student access to microwaves.

Students worked hard with one another to create a solution to involve a rotating roster for each year level to access the microwaves one day a week, which would benefit the whole school. It was decided that the House Captain and School Leaders would volunteer one lunch time a week to supervise and keep the microwave space orderly, with the help of a staff member. This idea also brought about the collaboration with the Wellbeing team to increase the food distribution days from two days a week, to five! This idea was bought to the Leadership Team by Allana Constance and was given the all clear.

This will start in the coming weeks and will be primarily student run and monitored in the food distribution room in A block. So, please keep an eye out for any updates.

Thank you to all those who participated in Heathmont Talks last term, we are looking forward to another term of actioning your ideas! Remember, you can come and go as you please to Heathmont Talks.
