Principal's Report

Dear parents,

Winter Solstice

This Friday 16th of June, we will be hosting the annual Winter Solstice bonfire night in Middle Gully.  This night includes an arts exhibition in the JCB, lantern parade, bonfire and food in Middle Gully.  It a fantastic tradition and fun family night.

For safety reasons, it is important that all students have an adult with them for the entire event and no students are to be dropped at school unattended.  Please pack your torches, warm clothes and a chair for sitting around the bon-fire. Please also note that the BBQ/Pizzas stall is cash only, with samll notes appreciated.

The schedule for the evening will run as follows.

From 5:30pm - 6:00pm  – Pick up lanterns in the school front office

6:00pm – Art show and specialist teacher presentation in the JCB

6:15pm – Bunjil Creation story and performance

6:30pm – Meet on the basketball grandstand for the lantern parade.

6:40pm – Arrive at the Middle Gully for food and bonfire.

We are still encouraging those who can support us with some volunteer hours to get in touch.  We’re after a few more volunteers to help with food preparation and sales on the evening. Helping in the eco shed, preparing pizzas on the sausage sizzle and the pack up at the end of the night would all be very much appreciated.  Please email macedon.ps@education.vic.gov.au if you can support us to put on this event in any way.

Your presence will not only make a difference in the lives of these students but also contribute to the growth and success of our entire school community. If you or someone you know has a passion for education, a compassionate nature, and a desire to make a positive impact, we strongly encourage you to apply for this rewarding role. This role will support us to create an environment where every child can thrive.

Please feel free to call the office to talk to me for more information.

Parent support in classrooms

We are calling for parent volunteers to support with student resourcing tasks and support in the classrooms.  Volunteers would be working with and guided by our friendly educational support staff.  All training will be provided, and both your time and work will be highly valued the entire Macedon Primary School community.

We are also keen to receive expressions from interest from any retired / teachers on leave to support with our MiniLit, reading support program. This program reaps outstanding rewards for our students who require additional support with their reading. The MiniLit program operates daily between 9.00am and 11.00am.  We would appreciate any support you might be able to provide.

Please contact us at the front office, macedon.ps@education.vic.gov.au to express your interest and we will be in touch.  We anticipate the volunteer program to run on a flexible basis and look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards and Sampai jumpa (until next time),

Matt
