Principal Announcement

Michelle Dempsey will commence as MECS Principal in 2024

The Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Michelle Dempsey as the next Principal of Mount Evelyn Christian School and Ranges TEC.

She will commence this role in January 2024. After an exhaustive process, we believe that God has enabled this appointment and we have been humbled, and strengthened in our faith as God opened the right doors and conversations for this appointment to be made.

First and foremost, Michelle introduces herself as a follower of Jesus. She says, “I’m in awe of His saving grace and generous love for me. I choose to serve Him in all things, to the best of my ability and thoroughly enjoy celebrating His love through the enjoyment of His creation, in particular through the people around me. I am passionate about education and in particular, assisting schools in growing leaders, teachers, ancillary staff and students in a distinctively different approach to learning. A learning that reflects the love of the Father and points to His ability to transform all aspects of life.”

Michelle Dempsey has had a long-term involvement in Christian Education, and in CEN schools. Starting out as a teacher, Michelle has taught all ages and has served as a Coordinator, Deputy and Principal. In fact, Michelle did a short teaching stint here at MECS in 2004 and 2005. Michelle presently serves as the CEO of Christian Education National, and has been so since 2015, before recently announcing her resignation.

Michelle is married to Mic, and they have two teenage children, Max and Meg. Along with her family, she worships at the Hope in the Hills Christian Church in Tecoma.

We are looking forward to a smooth season of transition over the coming months between Narelle and Michelle, as they are firm friends and have worked together in various capacities over the years with CEN. Of course, there will be ample opportunity to farewell Narelle and thank her for faithful leadership of the school over the last ten years, but for now we celebrate God’s goodness and faithfulness in providing another outstanding Christian leader and educator to take our school into the next season of providing quality Christian education in partnership with parents, to all our students.

We look forward to introducing Michelle to you further over the second half of the year, and indeed, welcoming her warmly at the beginning of 2024!
