Year 12 Tertiary information session - Monash Uni

Last week the Year 12 VCE students attended the Tertiary Information Session (TIS) which was held at Monash University. The event provided students with the opportunity to hear from a panel of tertiary representatives (from a number of different providers) addressing issues relating to tertiary study. We were very fortunate to have the morning session completely to ourselves. Our students had one on one access to all of the relevant Tertiary providers from University, Tafe and private providers which was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 12 students to ask questions. Following the presentation & expo students had time to visit the Student services building and purchase some morning tea and have a taste of social life on campus!

Students are reminded to register to attend information sessions at the upcoming Open Days.  As one of the representatives at the information session said “You would not go and buy a car without test driving it- nor should a student apply for a course without first going and checking out the campus, asking questions about the course. Students need to make sure the location that they are applying to is accessible and that they have prepared a  budget for all related costs…including  travel, parking, petrol, Myki, taking into account the distance and time it will take to travel to the location as well.

Change to higher education funding

You may of read in the paper or heard in the news about the proposed Federal Government reforms to Higher Education. I have included an information sheet that I received from Australian Catholic University that outlines the proposed changes in a clear manner.

I want to encourage you to read through this document and indeed contact the provider you are considering for future study to confirm the prices of courses that you are considering to ensure that you are fully informed when making course decisions.

Please pop in and see me or email me if you have any questions related to careers!
