Student Leadership News

Kindness Week and Valentine’s Day

The Leadership Team had some fun on Valentine’s Day decorating every locker and giving out heart shaped lollypops and other treats to spread our love towards the school.

Last week (Feb 17-21) we celebrated kindness under the umbrella of the national ‘Random Acts of Kindness Week’. For the entire week, the students recognised one another for their good deeds in the ‘Kindness Box’. Together we advertised the week and promoted kindness in year 7 and 8 home groups. The College Captains also talked about it at a whole-school assembly.

The team plans to later recognise the good deeds from the box like lending a pen or holding the door open for another. The idea behind this week was to encourage a karma cycle that occurs when students are inspired by the charity of others. We hoped they would reciprocate the deed by recognising the act and the fellow student in the ‘Kindness Box’.

Also, on Friday 21st, the Leadership Team helped with the preparation for the annual MFG Open Day and Night for next year’s new students. In the working bee in period 5 and 6, we cleaned and polished the new building, to present to the guests. We were also very pleased with the contribution of other staff and students.

Coming up this term we’re organising a whole-school healthy breakfast on International Women’s Day on the 5th of March and planning for the Environment week, beginning on the 24th of February.

Best Wishes, your College Captains, Sarah and Grace.
