Macbeth Performance

The JMSS English faculty would like to announce the staging of our fifth annual Macbeth Performance Showcase. Year 10 English students from across the school will perform selected scenes from one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays: Macbeth. Parents, students and peers of JMSS students are cordially invited to attend this entertaining evening of dramatic interpretations.

The Macbeth Performance Showcase is one of the central assessment features of Year 10 Semester 1 English study at JMSS. Working in their own Production Companies, students use a range of performance strategies to make the message of this 400-year old play relevant for a 21st Century audience.

Performances of past years have demonstrated innovative and engaging interpretations of the dark and brooding tragedy of Macbeth and his lust for power. From the doomed king’s “Is this a dagger I see before me?” speech, to Lady Macbeth’s “Out, damn spot!” rant, and of course, the witches’ “Double, double, toil and trouble”, the evening promises to be a testament to the dedication and hard work of JMSS’s newest students.

When: Thursday 28 May, 6pm-8pm (please arrive by 5.45pm for seating)
