Senior Girls Soccer
We started the day with high hopes. We only had to play one game so the plan was to give it our all in that one game against Brentwood Secondary College. The first half was an excellent start with no team scoring, but there were moments where JMSS were very close to scoring. The second half we were determined to get that one goal that could give the win. However, Brentwood scored, and then they scored again. So unfortunately we lost but we lost with our heads held high. And we know we will win next year so it’s all good. Thank you to Ms Reifschneider and Mr Mackinnon for organising training and letting the day run smoothly.

Senior Girls Basketball
On Monday 27th April, a talented and eager but quite nervous group of Year 11 and 12 girls headed to the Dandenong Sport Stadium to take part in the Monash Division Basketball Round Robin.
The Year 11’s were team A and the Year 12’s team B, but in our hearts, we were just one. However, at two points of the day, we were against each other. First, for a game to see who could make it to finals, and the other was the fight for third or fourth in the district. The Year 12’s came out on top, beating the Year 11 team both times. As some of us had never had experience playing a full game of basketball, it was an unforgettable and memorable day where we all had a tremendous amount of fun.

District Table Tennis
On 27th April JMSS sent four table tennis teams to compete in the District Table Tennis competition held at Dandenong Table Tennis Association.
JMSS Boys A was able to outlast five other teams and achieved first place. JMSS A defeated JMSS B in the opening round in a dominant 5-1 display. In rounds two and three, JMSS A outclassed Brentwood B and Wellington A with back-to-back 6-0 victories. The battle of the two best teams in the district squared off in round four, with an in-form Brentwood A side taking the fight right up to JMSS A. In the final round JMSS A beat Wellington B in a dominant 6-0 display.
JMSS B played against the remaining schools. Despite competing valiantly against Brentwood A, and the Boys B Team finished third in the pool.
The JMSS Senior Girls A Team and B Team came second and third in the Girls’ pool respectively. They were victorious against Brentwood A and Wheelers Hill A, but were beaten by Wellington A Girls Side 2-4.
Thanks to all those who took up a challenge and played in the four table tennis teams, you gave it your heart and determination to represent our school. Moreover, thanks to Mr Mackinnon and Mr Harnath for taking their time to organise the teams and supervise us during after school hours for training.

Senior Girls Netball
On 27th April JMSS A and B Senior Girls Netball teams took to the courts at Waverley Netball Centre for a jam-packed tournament of five 28-minute games against four other schools. Although we come from a science school, we gave the other schools a run for their money when the A team won 3 out of 5 games and the B team came very close to several wins. Starting off the day with a friendly JMSS A vs JMSS B match, we warmed ourselves up and got into the netball spirit.
Although most of us couldn’t move for the next three days, we were very proud of our efforts and couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to compete with. We were all very thankful of our two super coaches Ms Shaw-Elliott and Ms Pizzol for putting up with us on the day and getting us pumped up for the matches. Overall we had a tremendous day and could walk away feeling like pro-netballers.
