Mr Nicholas Adamou

Principal

As this is the final newsletter for 2019, I wish to acknowledge the exceptional work and support provided to our College by a wide range of people.

We recently had our final School Council meeting for the year, followed with a dinner, where I acknowledged the contribution of the members of this very important group who govern our school.

The College Council President, Mr Matthew Sheehan, Vice President, Ms Donna Woods, School Council parent members; Ms Shelley Kitchen, Ms Catherine McKenzie, Mr Laurence Lord, Ms Judith Densley, Ms Lyndal Jones, Ms Amanda Bartlett and Ms Helen Polyzos, student elected members; Bailey Kitchen and Lachlan Grantham, DE&T elected members; Ms Rebecca Durran, Ms Tonia Tigani, Ms Shona Scorringe and Mr Phillip Walker, Co-opted member; Ms Di Lang, have all given freely of their time in providing policy development, monitoring and evaluations. Through their work, the College can focus upon providing the best possible teaching and learning programs and environment for all of our students.

To the many, many students at North Geelong SC who have set their goals and after working hard throughout the year, have achieved them, I offer my congratulations. Their commitment to their learning makes our College an outstanding place to be part of. Our Logo “Strive to Achieve” heralds what we believe in as a school community. The school’s values (Respect, Excellence, Achievement and Diversity) and The High Expectations from students, staff, parents and the wider community generated this year’s outstanding achievements and positive results.

I take this opportunity to publicly thank Assistant Principals; Ms Julie Andrews, Mr Paul Dawson and Mr Brad Headlam who worked tirelessly within the leadership team to ensure the school continues to enjoy success.

I also extend my sincere thank you to all staff, teaching and non–teaching for their dedication and hard work during this year. The focus and the consistency in teaching and learning in the classroom and beyond has provided a wealth of opportunities for our students.

A special thank you to those staff members who are leaving the College, retiring or taking leave next year. The College staff and students have greatly appreciated their significant contributions.

To all parents and caregivers, I thank you for your wonderful support of our school and for entrusting North Geelong SC with the gift of educating your children and the many contributions you have given to support our community, through social activities and volunteering.

2020 is a Review Year for our school community. It will provide us with an opportunity to take stock and see how well we have achieved our strategic plan goals in the last four years.

It is also an opportunity for the school community to reflect, build on our strengths and form new directions aiming at bigger and better things. We look forward to many new challenges and successes.

Finally, I take this opportunity to extend to all members of our School Community my very best wishes for a safe and a thoroughly relaxing, refreshing school break.

Wishing all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and I look forward to a great start to the 2020 academic year.

Telstra Kids Grant

Great News!

North Geelong SC is delighted to announce our success in applying for a $1,200 grant from Telstra. Telstra Kids helps students thrive in their connected world. The Telstra Kids grant will be used to purchase new costumes which will be used by our Performing Arts students to present quality and professional musical and theatrical productions to the wider school community.

A huge thank you to Mr Paul Foot from Telstra, who successfully submitted the grant application on behalf of our school community. We are very excited to share in the million dollars the Telstra Foundation provides each year to help kids connect to a digital future.
