SBOCA Hall of Fame 2019

You are invited to attend and celebrate with us……The Annual Hall of Fame dinner will be held on Thursday 8 August – it promises to be a very special evening, celebrating Old Collegians who have achieved success in life after the College. We look forward to welcoming these Old Collegians back to the college to also celebrate with us.

This year we recognise the following Old Collegians for the excellence in their chosen field:

Eugene Galekvoic  Class of 1999 - Sporting

An outstanding soccer player, known for his goal keeping abilities, Eugene made his professional at 19 years of age before going on to 288 A-League appearance, two FIFA World Cups, two premierships, two championships and winning the 2015 AFC Asian Cup.

 

Dr Rolf Gomes B.E. MBBS, FRACP   

Class of 1991 - Science / Medicine and Community Services

 

Rolf is a cardiologist and Founder of Heart of Australia https://www.heartofaustralia.com  whose vision it is to revolutionise the delivery of first-class specialty services to rural and remote communities.

Dr Peter Hughes MBBS (Hons), FRACP PhD  

Class of 1990 - Science / Medicine and Community Service

 

A consultant Nephrologists at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter has been Physician in charge of renal transplants since 2012.

 

Rear Admiral Tony Dalton   Class of 1979

 

Tony joined the Navy in 1980 as a direct entry aviator, completing his pilot training in 1981. Over the next 17 years he amassed over 5500 flying hours making him one of the most experienced naval aviators. Tony graduated from the US Naval War College and in 2012 was promoted to Rear Admiral. He has served his country for nearly 40 years.

 

Anthony Vuat (deceased) – Class 1966

Sporting / Community Service

 

A sporting champion while attending the College, Tony was School Boy and Vic Amateur Champion in 1965. Tony’s outstanding career in television focused on producing and directing many of Australia’s best loved shows of that time including Countdown, The Winners, The Footy Show, The Bert Newton Show, Steve Vizard Tonight and the 1982 Commonwealth Games coverage.

 

Father Tom Sheeran (deceased) - Class of 1952 - Community Service

 

Father Tom worked as a Priest for 50 years. He initially worked in outback Australia, establishing boxing and gym facilities within his pastoral communities, attracting many indigenous youth giving involvement and commitment to these communities. He was a boxing referee at the Commonwealth games in 1982 and became Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral in Toowoomba.

Old Collegians Reunions 2019

 

Reunions are held at the College on Friday evenings between 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm. Food and Drinks are served and the opportunity to tour the College is also provide. These events really are very special and we encourage you to attend.
