Wanderers International Rules

On 28 November, Bailey Steenbuck and Callum Doyle in Year 10 will be heading overseas to play International Rules for the Australian Wanderers Team. The boys will spend 18 days travelling around and playing matches against local teams.  Bailey and Callum will travel to Dublin, Kerry, Limerick,  Costwolds areas of England, London, Kent, and Paris just to name a few.

After playing in the CIS NSW team, Bailey and Callum were invited to take part in the International Rules team.

Local schools and clubs will be the opposition on the trip with the team competing in a number of Gaelic Football and Hybrid games.  Joining 40 other 15-16 year old's from around Australia on this trip of a lifetime the boys will form part of the two teams. The tour will be led by elite level coaches including Mick Clift, who works with NSW AFL as Talent/Coaching Manager for the Sydney region and Jason Saddington, head coach of the GWS Giants Academy.

Whilst on the trip the boys  will also visit a number of famous landmarks including, Notre Dame, the Lourve, the Eiffel Tower, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and Traflgar Square just to name a few! Another highlight  will be the opportunity to watch an English soccer game!

On the way to Paris the tour will visit and pay respects to the ANZAC memorials and battlefield of the Somme in Northern France, providing Bailey and Callum an insight into Australia's World War One history and an opportunity for them to honour the ANZAC's.

Bailey and Callum are both extremley dedicated to their sport and their dedication didnt falter when taking up this opportunity, both boys got part time work at KFC to fund part of their trip, working hard to make their dream come true. This experience is unlike any other overseas trip most students undertake during their schooling, Bailey and Callum are part of a unique group who get to see the world through football!

We are extremely proud of their achievement and we cannot wait to see photos and hear all about their adventures abroad!
