Religious Education

Dear Parents

This week the students in Year 2 have been exploring how they encounter God in their lives. As part of this exploration they have looked at the picture book "In God's Name."  The book identifies different names and images we have for God. The children reflected on the idea that we can see God in others. Some of their reflections can be seen below.

Alessio

My brother reflects God's image because he cares about me and everyone.

Lucas

Nurses and doctors reflect  God's image because they try to do the best they can to heal patients

Noah

My daddy reflects God's image because when I am sick he puts blankets on me  so I am warm and he spends time with me.

Anna

My Nonna is like God because she prays for me every day.

Chloe

My mum reflects God's image because she stays with me when I am sick and and she helps me.

Hunter

Mum and Dad reflect God's image because they love me.

The children also read the story of the The Parable of the  Lost Sheep

They talked about how God is like a shepherd.

Evie Ross

God is like a shepherd because he treats everyone equally. Even though one sheep was lost, God still went to search for the one lost sheep.

Ella

God is like a shepherd because he cares for everyone and cares for nature.

Jean

God is like a shepherd because cares for others and is very forgiving.

The Year 2 students will continue to explore how God is encountered by others and other faith traditions as well as the Catholic Tradition. I wonder where you see the face of God in your life. This is something you might like to talk about with your children at home.

Have a lovely  week

Warm Regards

Bernadette
