Congratulations
Congratulations to James Griffith who represented Sydney in the Sydney v Country rugby union tournament was held in Maitland on the weekend. The U16’s Sydney team, which James played in, beat Country 24 -10 for the Ella Cup. This was the first time that Sydney had won the U16 boys vs Country in a few years.
Also, a big congratulations on those boys who represented Pius X at the Rugby Championships over the holidays and those who toured to Fiji with Hornsby Rugby. Its fantastic to see the boys developing their rugby outside of the Pius program.

Gala Dinner
What a fantastic night at the Rugby Gala dinner! Thank you to all parents, teachers and coaches who attended the evening and supported the Rugby Club to raise funds for our boys and the sport they love. It was also a perfect opportunity for our community to come together for a fun-filled night!
Galabid was successful and we thank all our parent and business sponsors for their generosity. There was incredible support shown. Also, to everyone who purchased items on the night as well as the many who bought items and were unable to attend the event.
We also welcome any feedback from the night. As always, direct all enquiries to spxrugby@gmail.com.

Senior Football
Well done to all teams on the weekend, there were some outstanding results. This Saturday there are both home and away fixtures but all teams are playing St Patrick’s College Strathfield. For teams playing at Oxford Falls, please note that this Saturday will be the busiest weekend of the winter season so please allow additional time for parking.
The final round of fixtures is the following Saturday 5 August, followed by semi finals and grand finals for teams who make it. Please note teams will continue to train as per normal, whilst they are still in contention. Once a team has been knocked out of the competition, they will no longer train.
Good luck to all teams this weekend.

Great Spirit at SPX Football Supporter's Day
The third and final Football Supporter's day was held at Oxford Falls last Saturday.
We were happy to hear a group from another school tell us that they like coming to St Pius to play football as we have good food and a great community spirit.
Thank you to everyone in our football community who donated baked and BBQ goods, volunteered on the day and also those who bought the delicious food and coffee. Your efforts are raising funds for the future football program.

ISA Tennis
Last week's Tennis matches against St Andrews and St Spyridons were nothing short of exciting for our college teams. Divisions 1, 2, and 10 emerged triumphant, demonstrating their skills and determination on the court.
A highlight of the day was the presence of our college principal, Mr Ronchetti, who graced our home grounds with his support. His visit brought an extra sense of pride and motivation to all our players.
This week, our students will be playing St Patrick's College and Barker College.
Divisions 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10 will be at Talus St, St Leonards.
Divisions 2, 4, 6, 9, 11 will be at Strathfield Sports Club, Strathfield.
Looking forward to the weekend.

Strength and Conditioning
Welcome to Term 3
This term we welcome three new coaches, Danielle is the senior coach, and Lucas ( old boy) and Brett will be assisting on a casual basis.
1) Booking System
The new booking system will be heavily enforced in which students book their training time slot through the Sarto gym link which can be found on the school’s intranet page. This is an internal online booking/management system which will be saved to the students school calendar. On Arrival to the gym, the student must sign in via the Teambuildr platform (the checking system will be accessible on the gym Ipad). If students are unable to reserve a position it means the time slot is full and they will have to actively check if a position becomes available due to another students cancellation.
To ensure safety and a quality training session, the maximum number of students in the facility is 25.
If a student turns up and they are not on the booking list, they will be asked to leave.
2) Programs
Team builder is a platform that allows coaches to easily track and record progress, it is a great way for students to view their set program and receive gym notifications ( ie testing week, or the ‘gym is closed’). To reduce injury and to manage student performance, students must sign up to their respective program. Coaches should be used as a resource for the students to adjust training programs on teambuilder and provide hands-on supervision during workouts to maintain a safe training environment, to prevent injuries and maximise training effectiveness.
Program review:
- Rugby students in Years 9 - 12 have now moved into their In-season program. This change will happen automatically on the team builder platform. All rugby students in Year 9-12 should make an effort to attend Wednesday morning sessions.
- Basketball students in Years 9 - 12 are about to begin their first season of S&C (Strength and Conditioning). The new Basketball S&C program will feature an introductory Olympic Weightlifting workshop conducted by Danielle and her weightlifting coach. As Danielle won't be able to attend the morning sessions in person until Term 4, Brett will take charge of these sessions until then. Pre-season activities will commence on Tuesday 7:15 am, 8 August. Don't miss out on the introductory session on Tuesday 1 August 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
- Generic program provides a series of strength programs and students must sign up to this join code if they if they are not in the 9 - 12. This will ensure they appear on the sign in register and also provides optional programs.
- For safety reasons, students in Year 7 and 8 must follow the specific training programs provided by the S&C coaches. Failure to comply with these programs may result in coaches asking the student to leave the facility.
3) Uniform
Students must be in their school uniform or full sports uniform when leaving the gym (only if they have PASS or PDPHPE practical Period 1 they can remain in their full sport uniform). The Sarto gym expects a high standard of responsibility from participating students. A friendly reminder if a student demonstrates unfavourable behaviour within any aspect of school or obtains 3 missed pre booked sessions, a three-strike policy is used and the student will not be able to use the facilities for the remainder of the term.
Session Times are:
If students have reserved a spot and are unable to make their booked session, they MUST cancel on the platform to allow the waitlisted students an opportunity to train. The program operates on three strike policy, students are required to attend all the sessions they register to. Please see below the respective join code.
Athletics
Athletics training has commenced.
When: Every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Where: School bus to and from Rotary Fields (may be subject to change), via Anderson St.
Who: All students who made Top 3 and those interested in any track or field events are encouraged to attend training. Final ISA team will be selected based on performance.
