Senior Sub-School Newsletter

The end of the term is nearly here and this means our senior sub-school is preparing. Preparing for exams, preparing for the end of the year and preparing for next year.

Our year 10 students have picked their VCE subjects for next year and those wishing to do the VCE/VM pathway have been busy creating their portfolios and sitting their interviews with our new VCE/VM Coordinator Carla Gangi and our Principal Andrew Arney.

Year 11 students have picked their 2024 subjects ordered their jackets and hoodies and are ready to take on their final year of schooling as “The Glenroy College Class of 2024”. Each year 11 VCE subject will have an exam somewhere between November 13th – 17th. This exam period is compulsory and will be used to provide valuable feedback.

With two weeks to go next term our year 12’s are so close to the end of their secondary education. Week 2 of term 4 will incorporate some quirky celebrations. pyjama day, cultural day, letter day then final assembly. Week 3 Swotvac week and Exams will commence on the 24th October. Our Year 12's  have ASPIRIN-ATIONS!

In the beginning of this term, Yr 12 Chemistry students attended the VICTORIAN SPACE SCIENCE EDUCATION CENTRE at Strathmore Secondary College to complete their analysis on the aspirin they had made in the lab at school. They worked with other students from Lalor Secondary College using Infra Red, UV-Vis spectroscopy and HPLC to confirm the production of aspirin and its purity.
