Principal’s Message

Mrs Katherine Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to all of the grandparents, parents and special friends who came to our school to celebrate Grandparents Day last week. It is always so lovely to have the opportunity for our school community come together.

For all Catholic students in Year 2 and 3, preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist will commence this week. If you do not wish for your child to participate please let me know.  First Reconciliation will take place on Tuesday 15 August at 12md followed by the Assumption Mass (Holy Day of Obligation). First Eucharist (for Year 3 Catholic students) will take place on Saturday 19 August at 4pm at Sacred Heart Parish church.  Further dates and information can be found on the RE page of the newsletter

Parent Teacher interviews will be held in Weeks 3 and 4 of this term. A conference booking schedule has been sent through Compass for you to book your time.

Personalised Plan meetings for Semester 2 will also take place at this time. If you are required to attend a Personalised Plan meeting for your child, please book a double timeslot.

In our 2023 Annual Improvement Plan, learning interventions play a key role in how we support student learning. One element of the success of individual intervention plans is attendance.  An individual attendance level of 90% or above

can have the following benefits for students:

  • Reduced disruption to learning
  • Ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities.
  • Helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine.
  • Increase in connectedness with peers at school.

School Census takes place this Friday 4 August. Census information is collected by the Australian Government Department of Education and the information provided is collected in accordance with the Australian Education Act 2013. The 2023 Non-Government Schools Census Collection Notice is attached for your information.

With the weather being particularly warm at the moment, could you please ensure that your child brings their school hat to school each day. All students require a hat when playing on the playground. If you need a new school hat they are available from Ms Traynor in the front office.

Transition for Kindergarten 2024 continues this term. If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for Kindergarten in 2024 and to participate in the transition program this year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms are available by contacting Ms Traynor in the Office.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten or any other year group for 2023/2024, please encourage them to contact me at school.

Happy birthday to Jack who celebrates his 6th birthday today and his brother Will who turns 10 on Friday 4 August.  We hope you both enjoy your special day.

Take care

Kath Baird
