NAPLAN

A special note to parents and carers of Year 3 and 5 students that hard copies of your child’s NAPLAN reports were sent home with students today.  If, for some reason, you did not receive that report from your child, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

As per last week’s newsletter, changes have been made to the way in which NAPLAN is now reported on.  Parents and carers  of Year 3 and 5 students will also receive information explaining these changes in the envelope with your child’s report.

If you have any questions regarding your child’s NAPLAN report results or the new reporting system, please speak with your child’s classroom teacher and they will be able to provide some further information.

Prep- 100 Days of School

Last Thursday our Prep students from both campuses celebrated a very important milestone…their 100 Days of Prep!

Congratulations to all our Prep students on a wonderful achievement, and what a fabulous 100 days it has been.

The students celebrated the day by participating in various activities related to 100, including making groups of 100, writing about being 100 years old and sharing a hot chip lunch- yummo!

Here’s a sample below of some photos showing the Preps enjoying their celebrations.

Year 3/4 Cultural Day

As part of the Year 3/4 students’ unit of study called  ‘The Story of Buninyong', students participated in an indigenous cultural day yesterday.

The students took part in a variety of learning experiences and activities,  including guest speakers, exploring indigenous art, damper making (and eating!), craft activities and a trip to Mount Buninyong.  It was a fabulous day which was very much enjoyed by our year 3/4 students. Many thanks to the team of 3/4 teachers for their preparation and organisation of the day.

Bulldogs Read Update

Last Saturday, the Bulldogs Read students had the opportunity to attend the Bulldogs Vs GWS game at Mars Stadium here, in Ballarat.

Despite the Bulldogs not getting the win, our students and families had a great time and there was even a special shout out to the Bulldogs Read participants in an announcement over the speaker and on the scoreboard – see photo below!

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

Keep up the great work with your participation in the Premiers’ Reading Challenge everyone and don’t forget to write a book review to share with others as well.

Every student who completes the challenge will receive a certificate at the end of the Challenge. The Challenge ends on September 8th, which is 38 days away, so keep up the reading!
