Behavioural Expectations of Students

As you will be aware, this year at Buninyong PS we introduced the School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB) Matrix, outlining expected behaviours across all areas of our school.

SWPBS is a framework from the Department of Education and helps schools implement strategies that are adopted across the school with the aim of setting clear, consistent expectations and positive values. It brings together school communities to develop positive, safe, supportive learning cultures.

Each week, all classes across the school undertake a weekly lesson that focuses on one expectation from the matrix.

This week’s whole school focus is: We solve problems and resolve conflict.

All expectations are aligned with our revised school values of Respectful, Responsible & Kind

In addition, the Buninyong Barometer was introduced to ensure that clear and consistent measures are implemented when expectations are not being met.

This is a stepped and staged approach and focuses on teaching expected behaviours when mistakes are made and utilising restorative measures to repair any harm caused.

Please don’t hesitate to speak to your child’s teacher or a member of the wellbeing leadership team if you would like to know more.

School Disco - Oh What a Night!

Oh, what a night

Late July in twenty twenty three

What a very special time for me

As we remember, what a night!

Wow! The excitement certainly built last week towards our School Disco which was held on Friday night. It was a fun-filled evening, likely becoming one of the highlights of the year for many students, and perhaps even a cherished memory of their time at Buninyong PS.

Events like these rely on the generosity of volunteers, and we extend a heartfelt thanks to all the staff and parents who offered their support, making the disco an unforgettable experience - THANK YOU!

A special shout-out to our incredible guest DJ, "DJayke Arnold," who graced us with a stellar debut performance, setting the dance floor on fire!

Over 85% of our students across the school danced the night away, enjoying the company of their friends. Their behaviour was commendable, demonstrating our school values while also showcasing some interesting dance moves!

For those who might have missed the chance to grab some treats at the kiosk, there are a few items left, including some mars bars, S&V chips, twisties, and lolly bags. On Friday, 4th August, during lunchtime, students are welcome to bring along $2 to buy a small treat. These will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Once again, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to everyone involved in making the School Disco an incredible success. Your enthusiasm and support truly made it a night to remember for our school community. Well done, everyone!

Buninyong Police Visit - Years 3-6

Today our years 3-6 students had a visit from Acting Sergeant Tracey Atkins from the Buninyong Police.

We were lucky to have her come and chat to the students and offer some important reminders about keeping ourselves safe, making good choices and being responsible members of the community.  She also shared some information about personal safety and wellbeing.

Bunjil Student Awards

Congratulations to the following students who received a Bunjil Award at last week’s 1-4 assembly.

Bunjil awards recognise student achievement and those who display our school values of being respectful, responsible and kind.

Well done! All of our weekly winners enjoy a hot chocolate with a principal.
