Principal's Report

A WEEK OF ACTION

After a few quiet weeks to start the term, there was a bit going on last week. The preps certainly embraced their celebration of 100 days at school and had lots of fun with dressing up and related activities.  I had the pleasure of taking the Victorian State School Spectacular team to Keilor on Friday, where Mrs Morgan and our dancers joined 19 other schools for a day of rehearsals.  All involved did well and will be more than ready for the event on September 9th.  And of course we finished off the week with the disco, which was enormous.  This was thoroughly enjoyed by the students and a big thankyou to the staff and parents that helped out.

PARENT OPINION SURVEYS

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement.

The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Parent survey results provide us with a good sense of school performance from a parent perspective and we’re always keen to get the results and then talk them through with school council.  We’ll also invite parents along to a forum (at both campuses) to share and discuss the results, so keep an eye out for that.

SPRING CLEAN FOR THE GYM

It’s unlikely the south wall of the gym has had serious attention since it was first opened in March of 1997.  As you can see in the attached photo, it was due for some repairs and a good clean.

Yesterday we had contractors in to unblock and repair downpipes and then start washing down the walls.  Already you can see a big difference and the cleaning process should be completed today.

Then we’ll have rotten boards replaced before having the rebound wall painted.  Then we’ll have the entire south side of the gym looking like new again.
