Learning and Teaching

On Thursday 17 August and Friday 18 August, all students will participate in the Life Education Incursion. 

Life Education has the belief that prevention is better than cure. With the constant changes happening in our world today, education plays a critical role in equipping students with the appropriate tools to both survive and thrive. 

 

Life Education works closely with the Department of Education, Victoria to launch effective programs that occur across primary schools today. 

Year PrepHarold’s Friendship 

In this module, our Prep students will learn to recognise the importance of relationships and will gain skills to seek help in a variety of situations. Students will also practise strategies to manage their feelings and emotions.

 

The students will learn how to:

  • Show different ways to be kind to others 
  • Name some ways to make new friends 
  • Identify different emotions and feelings 
  • Understand how different emotions feel in our bodies 
  • Name some ways someone can calm themselves when upset 
  • Name people who can help in unsafe situations 
Year 1/2Safety Rules

In this module, our Year 1/2 students will be educated about positive relationships, how to seek help, nutrition and how to protect themselves in unsafe environments.

 

The students will learn how to:

  • Compare which items are safe and unsafe 
  • Articulate why rules are important to follow 
  • Identify the people who can help in unsafe situations 
  • Demonstrate the best way to ask for help 
  • Explain what an emergency is and know when to call 000 
Year  3/4bCyberwise

In this module, our Year 3/4 students will gain strategies and skills to combat cyberbullying. They will learn that safe, responsible and respectful behaviour is necessary when interacting with others online as well as face-to-face.

 

The students will learn how to:

  • Identify which types of personal information are safe to share online
  • Understand what games and apps are appropriate
  • Recognise and describe cyberbullying and how to respond to it 
  • Recognise behaviours that are unsafe online
  • Explain strategies to keep safe online
Year 5/6Relate Respect Connect

In this module, our Year 5/6 students will have the opportunity to experience building positive, safe and respectful relationships. 

 

The students will learn how to:

  • Describe qualities of healthy and respectful relationship online and offline 
  • Explain ways to make new friends and maintain existing relationships 
  • Practise ways to respectfully resolve conflict on and offline
  • List ways someone to manage emotions and recognise them in others
