Library News

Welcome from the library

A big welcome from the library to all new and returning students and staff.

We hope everyone had an enjoyable summer with plenty of recreational reading!  If you are looking for inspiration, we have set up a display of the library’s most borrowed books from 2019. If you read something good over the summer, come in and tell us about it, or add it to our Book Requests!

Over the next few weeks we will be running library orientation sessions for Year 7 students - an overview of the library and its services is also included below.

Opening Hours

The library is open before and after school, and during recess and lunchtime.

  • Monday to Thursday 8.00am – 4.30pm*
  • Friday  8.00am – 4pm
  • Changes to hours due to events will be advertised.

Borrowing

Students can borrow up to 5 books. Books are loaned for three weeks but can be renewed either at the library desk or online by signing into the Library webpage (Compass username and password).  Students can also reserve books and check their borrowing history online.

The Collection

The Library has an excellent fiction collection catering mainly for teenagers - we encourage students to recommend new titles and authors. We also have a graphic fiction/manga and biography section.

Our non-fiction collection covers curriculum areas and recreational reading.  We also have a range of magazines and The Age and Herald Sun newspapers.

eResources

We provide access to a number of online resources, including:

A full list of eResources can be found on the Library webpage.

The library space

The library is available as a social and study space during recess and lunchtimes. The space includes silent study rooms for VCE students, and a quiet reading zone.

There is a printer/photocopier in the library (sign in with Compass ID and password) – ask us if you need help.
