Year 10 Economics and Business

$20 Boss Program
What do you think a student from Year 10 would do with $20 – buy lunch from the canteen?
Would you expect them to start a business?
Well, that’s exactly what enterprising students at Viewbank College are doing.
The Year 10 Economics & Business classes have joined the Foundation for Young Australians $20 Boss initiative – an immersive learning program for building the critical and creative thinking, teamwork and entrepreneurial skills of young people.
Students will be loaned $20 of real money as start-up capital to create, launch and operate their own business over the course of the term. Students will be responsible for their developing their own business idea, managing their venture and remaining financially accountable. This is a genuine business proposition that comes with risk and uncertainty.
Business trading will take place during ‘Market Week’ in Week 8 (TBC), with the businesses formulated by the students operating throughout during break times.
We invite the support of the College community in these endeavours and look forward to showcasing our students’ projects and initiatives throughout the term.
