PRIMARY NEWS
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Please take a moment to read about some news relating to the Primary School:
Acting Primary Principal Introduction:
Hello Parents & Carers
I'd like to introduce myself to those who I haven't met as yet. For the remainder of this term, I will be replacing Sam Luck as the Assistant Principal in the Primary school. I have had the pleasure of being a part of the at Collingwood College Community for the last 8 years working in the Prep to Grade two area and this year in the Reggio 1/2 class.
If I can help you with anything or if you would like to drop in for a cup of tea and a chat, I will be in Sam's office or wandering around the school.
I look forward to meeting new faces and seeing some old ones.
Thank you

Prep 2018 Enrolments are filling fast. Please make sure if you have a child that is eligible for Prep in 2018 that you come to the front office and collect an enrolment form. Both Steiner and Reggio places are filling faster than expected. Enrolments are taken on a 'first in-first served' basis.
Bus Project Gallery
On Thursday, 3 August, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Reggio 3/4 class Photography exhibition and dance/performance for their Performing Arts class. For the past few months the class has been working closely with the local gallery, The Bus Project. Three artists from the gallery, Sam, Cara and Amy have been working collaboratively with the students with the support of Angela (Main program Visual Art and Performing Arts teacher), Shannon the gallery director, Made' the gallery curator and Nina the educational officer.
Tonight's Photography exhibition and student self choreographed dance/performances not only showcased the hard work of Angela and the students but also the importance of community involvement.
The night was a great success and I know both Angela, the students and the families thank everyone who was involved, specially the Bus Project gallery and we hope to continue our relationship with them.

SECONDARY NEWS
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Please take a moment to read about some news relating to the Secondary School:
On Thursday 10th August we held the Senior Pathways night at Collingwood Town Hall for our year 10 students transitioning to year 11. Combined with Fitzroy High School's year 10 there was over 350 people in attendance. There was a lot of information to digest from the evening for families. Lots of new terminology to understand. Every student had the chance to talk to teachers from both Collingwood and Fitzroy about the subjects on offer next year. A glossy handbook was handed to all those attended. If you missed the night there are spares in the Senior Office. The electronic link is here.
Thank you to the VCAL Kitchen Operations students for the wonderful catering and to Harold Miller who combined his questions with taking some great shots of the night.
So what happens next?
Senior teachers are visiting classes this week to share snapshots of their subjects.
On the 14th-18th August students will present their preferred pathway to a panel of senior teachers from both schools. If the pathway looks like it will lead to success then a parent/carer signature will be required.
YEAR 9 AND VET INFORMATION NIGHT
Our year 9 students are invited to attend a transition evening on Tuesday 15th August 6.00-6.30pm in the school Theatre. The focus will be on moving to year 10 and the options available.
Following the year 9 into 10 information session there will be a VET focussed information session for year 9, 10 and 11 students who wish to undertake a VET study next year. VET subjects are a vocational subject that students undertake at another school. The subjects are offered through an external provider called Inner Melbourne VET Cluster. They are not easy and require dedication and strong attendance. There is also additional costs. It is important if you are thinking about studying one of these subjects that you attend.
