State Netball Championships

Nicola Whitfield, Co-Coach

Last Monday, nine Year 11 and 12 girls competed in the finals of the Netball Victoria School Championships, at the State Netball and Hockey Centre. It has been many years since Kilvington has made it through to these finals, which compete against independent and state schools across Victoria, so this in itself is a huge achievement.

We had six tough games against strong schools much larger than Kilvington and although no wins on the day, achieved some close results with only a goal or two in it. One of the best results was a drawn half time score against Ballarat Grammar who were the eventual competition winners. Despite managing some injuries, all the girls played tirelessly and I was proud to coach them on the day and throughout their very successful EISM season with Matt Brinson.

Year 7 Hockey and Netball

Well done to our Year 7 girls hockey team who played through their Term 3 EISM season undefeated, the best ever result for a Kilvington hockey team. The girls showed great skill and teamwork to score 26 goals throughout the season, while only having two goals scored against them.

The Netball team also had a great season and finished off well in the final game to win by one goal and hold on to their undefeated record.

The Kilvington sport weekly training program has had a real impact, and the girls showed versatility in playing different positions throughout their matches. Congratulations!
