Maths Masterclass

by Rebecca Katz , Year 8

On August 3 and August 17, some of the Year 8 and Year 9 students were lucky enough to attend a Maths Masterclass.

The class was taught by the marvellous Marty Ross.

We covered the topics of ‘Natural Numbers’, ‘Fibonacci-ish numbers’, ‘Imaginary Numbers’ and his own spin on the ‘Fibonacci Numbers’, the ‘Marty Numbers'!

Marty enabled us to think outside the box, extend our understanding and advance our skill and knowledge of numbers.  Overall, the class was fun, exciting and challenging!

Farewell to our Chinese Students

Thank you to our generous parent and staff community for welcoming students from our sister school, Shanghai West Yan'an Middle School, into their homes.

A great study experience begins with a friendly and welcoming homestay environment. It was clear on Monday morning, when we farewelled the group, that they were sad to leave and had had a great time with their host families.

We were particularly impressed with the effort that all families made to entertain the students and show them the attractions of Melbourne and its surrounds.

Many thanks again for enriching our host students’ experience of Kilvington and Australia.
