Armidale Diocesan Cricket Competition

by Nicholas Fisher

On Thursday 3rd November, twelve boys from Secondary went down to Ron Harborne Oval to face our rival school Holy Trinity. This time last year, a similar match against Holy Trinity was played where our boys won by just one run. The pressure was on!

The team lost the toss and were sent out to field. Ben Ryan got a fabulous five wickets bowling, with Josh Elbourne getting his first wicket ever playing cricket. After a few edges and some unlucky dropped catches, Trinity managed to make 110 runs.

Oliver Haddad opened the batting with Jack Montgomery making a partnership of 25. Then the first wicket fell when Jack was caught and bowled. They started to drop off with some boys getting out with low scores until Riley and Royce Carroll took to the pitch. The twins put on some glorious batting, working together to get us back on track. They had managed to get the team chasing only thirteen runs off two overs. Unfortunately Riley’s wicket fell from a horrible bowl.  Oscar Davis headed out as our last man, six balls to get nine runs and The boys said “Go for a tonk”, and our last wicket fell. It was a great game and we are looking forward to playing Gunnedah in Week 8.

NSWCCC NORTHERN SQUAD

Well done John Montgomery!

On Monday the 7th of November, Jack was one of many boys who attended a cricket trial in Sawtell. He has been selected into the 15 years Northern Region Cricket Squad.  The team will compete against a Metropolitan and Southern Squad at the NSWCCC Selections on Monday the 21 November 2016 and Tuesday, 22 November. We wish Jack all the best for this upcoming selection trial and congratulate him on his achievements thus far.

Annabelle placed well and qualified for the Greg Norman Junior Masters to take place at the Gold Coast from the 12-16 December.
