The Herbert Smith Freehills Mentoring Program is an amazing initiative and it was a real privilege to be part of the program this year.

 I have learned so much in every single mentoring session - from lessons on resumes and job interviews to the impact of stereotypes in society.

The mentor pairing experience is amazing.  I never thought I would be paired with someone that has so much in common with me, someone who could pass on so much wisdom to me. I cannot thank Tahanna enough for all her guidance: from helping me become more confident and socially savvy, to helping me keep my writing concise! It has been fantastic to get to talk to someone with so much experience in the workplace and out in the world.

Above all, this program has taught me important life skills and helped to open my eyes and look at what is ahead of me and the importance of the future. Sometimes school can be all-consuming and can feel like it is the most important and only thing ahead.  The mentor program has really helped me to look past school and to realise that there is so much more to life than just school.  It has reminded me that, with so much future ahead and still so much to learn, your ATAR is not all there is to life.
