Halogen Young Leaders' Day

On Monday November 11th, the 2017 Middle Years’ Captains-Brooke Hillam, Euan Sutherland, Milo Cooper, Ruby Cush, Isabelle Musson, Lachlan Craig, Fergus Roberts and Gracie Austin attended the Halogen Young Leaders’ Day at the Melbourne Convention Centre. The through-line for the Day was ‘Imagination’. Speakers included world skateboarding champion and business owner Poppy Starr, journalist Melissa Doyle, Australian netballer Bianca Chatfield, social entrepreneur Kate Austin, author and television presenter Alex Malley. Milo and Gracie were given the task of taking to the stage, and presenting a thank you gift to the highly entertaining Alex Malley. All 8 students were wonderful ambassadors for College, and were a delight to take to Melbourne. All enjoyed the day, and returned to school with a plethora of leadership ideas and hopefully, a number of great initiatives for the MYPEC in 2017.

Year 6 Mentor Group Project

This week, the Year Six classes sent off their Christmas shoe boxes to the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. The boxes were filled with pre-loved toys, stationary items, clothing, books etc. The students ran a ‘Bake Sale’ in Term Three, and raised over $300.00 to go towards postage of the boxes, which will be sent off to needy children in South East Asian countries.
