Year 7 to 11 Semester Two Examination

The Year 10 & 11 Semester Two Examinations will be held between Friday 18th and Thursday 24th November.  Year 7 to 9 Semester Two Examinations will take place from Thursday 1st to Monday 5th December.

These examinations are not only an opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning, but to also gain practise performing within a limited time frame in preparation for the VCE and life after school.  During the examination period normal classes are suspended and we run an examination timetable.

The Year 10 & 11 Examination Timetable and the Year 7 to 9 Examination Timetable are attached to this newsletter.

Students are given guidelines from each subject teacher about what they should revise in preparation for the examinations.  Now is the time for students to organise themselves with revision notes and seek assistance from teachers if they require support in any specific area of study.

Staff are working hard at the College to emulate examination conditions that are very similar to what will be the case for students at a Unit 3&4 VCE level, so that the procedures and protocols are well known and manageable.  Students have been reminded that:

  • they should have clear water bottles only, without labels
  • no phones, smart watches or electronic devices (other than those specified) are permitted in the exam room (these should be left in a locked locker)
  • they are to write their name on the paper as soon as reading time has finished
  • they should use the entire allocated reading and writing time wisely, so that they can demonstrate their very best knowledge, skills and understandings in a well-planned and focussed manner.

A letter has been given to each Year 11 students requesting the details of any times that he/she may be planning to study at home during the examination period.  Please return the slip at the bottom of the letter to Miss Waldron by Thursday 17th November.

Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Recipients

Congratulations to Year 10 students, Pippa Gan and Sami Zehir, for being chosen to participate in the University of Melbourne Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars program throughout 2017 and 2018.  The University received over 1800 applications from students across Victoria and adjoining border regions.  The program will offer both Pippa and Sami a tailored series of events and activities that will support and enhance their secondary studies, inspire their career plans and provide opportunities to interact with the University community.  We wish them all the very best as they experience all that the program offers.
