The Careers Hub

Careers with stem resource

Careers with Stem is a great resource to learn about all things related to STEM careers, and there is heaps of fun stuff too. You can also subscribe to their excellent magazine or pop into the Careers Hub or Library to read a copy.

You can download their awesome APP which features at least 1000 cool STEM degree options for you to explore. This app can simplify your study choice, and plan your future career goals.

The STEM Finder will help you match your STEM+X choices to:

  • list of degrees, universities with their rank
  • jobs, their description, median salary
  • all the STEM+X role models.

The app shows study options across Australia and New Zealand for all STEM career opportunities. All content is available offline after the startup download and you can obtain the app from Apple App Store or Google Play via your mobile device.

Australian National University (ANU) Tuckwell Scholarship opens soon

ANU launched the Tuckwell Scholarship Program in 2013. Receiving a Tuckwell Scholarship – valued at over $21,700 per year for the length of an undergraduate degree - is not just about a student's intellect; it's also about their desire and determination to use their natural abilities to realise their full potential so that they can make a difference in the world. All up one could say, this is no ordinary scholarship!

Eligible students need to expect an ATAR of 95+ but students who have experienced disadvantage, or who have achieved significantly in other ways, may still be eligible. Applying for a Tuckwell Scholarship is a three-stage process which commences with an initial application and a recommendation from your teacher. Shortlisted applicants will complete a more detailed application in stage two (including a recommendation from your School Principal) and final candidates will be interviewed during July for stage three.

Applications open on Monday 4 March and close on Thursday 28 March 2019.

UCAT - Medicine applications

Friday 1 March

Students in Year 12 planning to apply for entry to Medicine are reminded that registrations for the UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test) will open this Friday 1 March and close Friday 17 May. I have also attached a Matrix that outlines additional information about the undergraduate courses available for entry from Year 12 students. These are highlighted in RED. The BLUE ones provide information on other entry pathways.

In the meantime, students who are preparing for entry into these courses are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the practice tests and preparation material provided at UCAT Preparation.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
