Senior Years and Wellbeing
Amongst all the news and information being distributed surrounding the Carona Virus (COVID 19), I think it is refreshing to read about the great work being done in Australia, within our region and particularly within our school regarding two events this week.
This is the 10th anniversary of this national day and the theme for 2020 is “Take Action Together”. I think this is particularly important as we see and hear stories in the media about people not looking out for one another in these challenging times. Let’s be a community of upstanders- whereby we care for those around us, check in with our family and friends, and call out inappropriate behaviours that we see around us.
At The Hamilton and Alexandra College, we have very firm view and stance on bullying; it is never okay whether it is emotional, physical or cyberbullying. Students should know that any form of bullying can be reported to staff and that appropriate action will be taken. More information on the National Day of Action against Violence and Bullying can be found at:

The ‘Bullying- No Way!’ website also has a lot of videos and practical resources for students, parents/carers and community links to events- it could be an interesting site to visit with your child and have a discussion about what constitutes bullying and what can be done if it does occur.
Harmony Week and Day celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity. It is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. It is a special time to learn more about those around us and to celebrate differences. In these challenging times, caring for those around us is more important than ever. Please think about our International Students and the difficulties they are facing also.
