On Sunday 5 August Grace James (Year 9) performed at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Grace was part of a trio from the Australian Percussion Academy whose Director is Mr Sergei Golovko, Percussion teacher at McKinnon Secondary College. The Gala was held at the end of the Australian Marimba Competition which had taken part on the weekend of 4 and 5 August.
The trio opened the Australian Percussion Gala Performance. Grace also took part in the final number, “The Sabre Dance” along with her two other trio members, the winners from all the sections of the Competition, The Melbourne University Percussion Quartet and Mr Sergei Golovko.
